in·spi·ra·tion
/inspəˈrāSH(ə)n/ noun
the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

True effort, performance, engagement, and enjoyment come from inspiration. Finding inspiration in something external that moves you from with-IN will motivate you to act. You can find inspiration anywhere, from literature, sports, family, education, or something only you understand.

Only you can inspire you to do something.

Finding Inspiration

People get inspiration from many different sources, including: reading a book, listening to a speaker, watching an inspiring movie, talking with a friend who succeeded in achieving a goal, going to a seminar, connecting with a philosophical quote, listening to a specific song – whatever! What one person finds inspirational might not do anything for another person.

Those are all uplifting ideas to inspire; but some people connect with inspiration from another angle, this kind of inspiration comes from a setback. This can mean a “failure” when you say to yourself “that didn’t work out the way I wanted it to but I’m determined to succeed and will do whatever it takes.”

Inspiration comes in many different forms. Ultimately, inspiration propels you forward and helps you advance past obstacles in your way right now.

Henry Ford said it best: “Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal.”

Inspiration is alive within you and provides the energy you need to reach your dreams and goals. It is up to you to decide whether you will take this inspiration and run with it. You can read or talk to as many people as you want, but until you recognize that you are the one that needs to make the difference, nothing will happen. Inspiration comes from with-IN.

Finding Inspiration Within

There is a goal you have in mind and each person you talk to, says something like one of the following: “that will never work,” or “are you sure you want to do that?” Each person may have the best intention for sharing the idea or question, yet something deep within says “I must go for this.”

Despite everyone telling you that it will never happen, you decide you will do whatever it takes. All these forewarnings of doubt inspired you instead of intimidated you. You take on the larger goal as a challenge and through daily action, moving one step at a time, you see progress towards your dream.
